أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ هُوَ الْأَصَمُّ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ، ثنا أَبُو النَّضْرِ، ثنا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، ثنا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا تَذْبَحُوا إِلَّا مُسِنَّةً إِلَّا أَنْ يَعْسُرَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَتَذْبَحُوا جَذَعَةً مِنَ الضَّأْنِ " أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ كَمَا مَضَى.
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sacrifice a two-toothed animal. If it becomes difficult for you, then slaughter a jadha'ah of sheep."
وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا الْبَاغَنْدِيُّ، ثنا قَبِيصَةُ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، فَقَالَ: كُنَّا فِي غَزَاةٍ مَعَنَا، أَوْ ⦗٣٧٨⦘ عَلَيْنَا مُجَاشِعُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَعَزَّتِ الْغَنَمُ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " يُوَفِي الْجَذَعُ مِمَّا يُوَفِي مِنْهُ الثَّنِيُّ ".
Asim bin Kulayb narrated from his father: With us on a military expedition was Mujashi' bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), a Companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sheep became scarce, so he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "A jadha' suffices just as a two-toothed animal (thani) suffices."
