Mujahid narrates from Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: When a man enters ihram and has game with him, he should let it go.
(b) Al-Hasan said: He should release it, and if he slaughters it, he owes the compensation.

Hammad bin Zayd (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Amr bin Dinar (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about a person in ihram who slaughters game. He said: He may eat it, and he owes the compensation; throwing it away is waste. Hammad (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ayyub (may Allah have mercy on him) used to like this saying of Amr (may Allah have mercy on him).
(b) Al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It is carrion; he should not eat it. Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A person not in ihram should not eat it. It is also reported from Ata (may Allah have mercy on him): When he hunts game he owes a ransom (fidyah), and when he eats it he owes the value of what he ate.
(c) In the narration of Ibn Abi Layla from Ata (may Allah have mercy on him): Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), Sayyiduna al-Husayn bin Ali and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said about game slaughtered in Makkah: It is not to be eaten. It was asked: Then what is to be done with it? He said: It is to be thrown away like carrion.
(d) In the narration of al-Hajjaj (bin Artah) from Ata (may Allah have mercy on him), from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas and Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with them): they disliked that game hunted outside the sanctuary be slaughtered inside the sanctuary.
(e) In another narration of al-Hajjaj from Ata (may Allah have mercy on him): Sayyidah Aishah, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, and al-Hasan or al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them) disliked slaughtering game in Makkah, but saw no harm in its being brought in already slaughtered.
(f) It is reported from Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: When a person not in ihram hunts game in the sanctuary, the same ruling is passed on him as is passed on a person in ihram. He said: And when a person in ihram hunts in the sanctuary, he owes a single expiation.
