Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Ifadah at the end of the day, after praying Zuhr. Then he came back and spent the days of Tashriq at Mina. When the sun passed its zenith he would stone the Jimar, throwing seven pebbles at each Jamrah and saying the takbir with each pebble. At the first and the second Jamrah he would stop, stand for a long time and supplicate humbly. Then he would stone the third Jamrah and not stop there.

Imam al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) said that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stoned the Jamrah that is next to the mosque of Mina, he would throw seven pebbles at it, saying the takbir every time he threw a pebble. Then he would go forward in front of it and stand facing the House (the Ka'bah), raising his hands and supplicating, and he would stand for a long time. Then he would come to the second Jamrah and throw seven pebbles at it, saying the takbir with every pebble, and he would move down to the left side, toward the valley, and there, facing the qiblah, he would raise his hands and supplicate. Then he would come to the Jamrah that is at al-Aqabah, throw seven pebbles at it, saying the takbir with every pebble, then he would leave and not stop by it.
In al-Zuhri's (may Allah have mercy on him) narration it is stated that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) also used to do the same.

Salim bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) would throw seven pebbles at the nearest Jamrah, saying the takbir after each pebble. Then he would go forward and stand for a long time facing the qiblah, raising his hands and supplicating. Then he would stone the middle Jamrah, and likewise he would stand on the left side facing the qiblah, standing for a long time, raising his hands and supplicating. Then he would stone the Jamrah of al-Aqabah from the bottom of the valley and would not stand there, and he would say: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) doing it like this.

Wabarah bin Abd al-Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): When should I stone the Jamarat? He said: When your imam stones, then you stone as well. I asked him again, and he said: We used to wait for the time, and when the sun passed its zenith, we would stone.
