Husayn bin Abd al-Rahman says: I heard Abu Malik al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) say: Nine of the slain of Uhud were brought, and the tenth of them was Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him); then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) offered their funeral prayer, then they were carried away, and another nine were brought and the funeral prayer was offered over them, while Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) remained in his place as the funeral prayer was offered.

Husayn narrates from Abu Malik al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer over the slain of Uhud ten at a time, and in every ten the tenth was Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him), until he (peace and blessings be upon him) had offered the funeral prayer over him seventy times.
This is the most authentic report on this subject, and it is mursal.
Ata' narrates from al-Sha'bi that on the day of Uhud the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered seventy funeral prayers over Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him); he began with the funeral prayer of Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him), then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would call for the other martyrs and offer their funeral prayers, while Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) remained in the same place.
This too is munqati' (broken), whereas the hadith of Jabir is connected, and his father was among the martyrs of Uhud.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that when Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred in the Battle of Uhud, Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) came looking for him, and she did not know what had happened to Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him). She met Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him): Tell your mother. Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "No, rather you tell your paternal aunt." The narrator says: Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked what had happened to Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him), and the two of them made it appear as if they knew nothing. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I fear for her sanity (lest she lose her senses)." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand on her chest and supplicated for her. The narrator says: Then Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) recited 'Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un' (We belong to Allah and to Him we return) and wept. The narrator says: Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) came to him and stood there, and Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) had been mutilated, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Were it not for (fear of) the women's distress, I would have left him in this state, until he is gathered from the bellies of the beasts and the crops of the birds." The narrator says: Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave orders concerning the slain and offered the funeral prayer: nine of the slain would be placed, and the tenth would be Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him); then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would say seven takbirs over them, and they would be lifted away while Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) was left; then another nine would be brought, and over them too he (peace and blessings be upon him) would say seven takbirs, until he (peace and blessings be upon him) had finished with all of them.
I know it only from the hadith of Abu Bakr bin Ayyash from Yazid bin Abi Ziyad, and neither of them was a precise memoriser (hafiz).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer over Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said nine takbirs.
This is more likely to be preserved, and it is munqati' (broken).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer over Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said seven takbirs over him. No slain man was brought but that Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) was with him and he (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer, until he had offered seventy-two (72) funeral prayers over him.
This is weak; when Muhammad bin Ishaq bin Yasar does not name the one from whom he narrates, his report is of no value.
Al-Hasan bin Umarah narrates from al-Hakam, from Miqsam, from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer over the slain of Uhud; but al-Hasan bin Umarah is weak, and his narration cannot be taken as proof.

Abu Dawud says: Shu'bah said to me: "Go to Jarir bin Hazim and tell him: It is not permissible for you to narrate from al-Hasan bin Umarah, for he is a liar." Mahmud says: I said to Abu Dawud: How is that? He said: I said to Shu'bah: What is the sign of his lying? He said: "He narrated things from al-Hakam for which I found no basis. I asked al-Hakam: Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offer the funeral prayer over the slain of Uhud? He said: No. Yet al-Hasan bin Umarah said: Al-Hakam narrated to me from Miqsam, from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer over the slain of Uhud. And I asked al-Hakam: What do you say about children born of zina? He said: They are to be set free. I said: On whose authority? He said: It is narrated in the hadith of the people of Basrah from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Yet al-Hasan bin Umarah said: Al-Hakam narrated to me from Yahya bin al-Jazzar, from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), that they are to be set free."
