Urwah narrates from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite aloud in the eclipse prayer. When he finished his recitation, he would say the takbir and bow, and when he raised his head from bowing, he would say: 'Sami' Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa lakal-hamd' (Allah hears the one who praises Him; our Lord, and to You belongs all praise). Then he would repeat the recitation in the eclipse prayer, and so he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed 4 bowings and 4 prostrations in two rak'ahs.

(c) Muhammad bin Isma'il al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: In my view, the hadith of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited aloud in the eclipse prayer is the sound one; the hadith of Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited quietly and inaudibly.
