Sulayman bin Yasar said that he heard Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) say: I have not seen anyone whose prayer more closely resembled the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) than so-and-so, the governor of Madinah. Sulayman said: I prayed behind that man, and he would lengthen the recitation in the first two rak'ahs of Zuhr and keep it light in the last two, he would make the Asr prayer light, in the first two rak'ahs of Maghrib he would recite from the short surahs of the Mufassal, in the first two rak'ahs of Isha from the middle surahs of the Mufassal, and in the morning prayer from the long surahs of the Mufassal.

Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) recited Surah al-Fatihah and one of the short surahs of the Mufassal in the first two rak'ahs of Maghrib, then stood up for the third rak'ah. Abu Abdullah said: I came so close to him that my clothes were almost touching his clothes, and I heard him recite Surah al-Fatihah and this blessed verse: "Our Lord! Do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us Your special mercy. Surely You are the Bestower of abundance" [Surah Al Imran: 8].
