Qays bin al-Harith said: Abu Abdullah al-Sunabihi informed me that he came to Madinah during the caliphate of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) and prayed the Maghrib prayer behind Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) recited Surah al-Fatihah and one of the short surahs of the Mufassal in the first two rak'ahs of Maghrib, then stood up for the third rak'ah. Abu Abdullah said: I came so close to him that my clothes were almost touching his clothes, and I heard him recite Surah al-Fatihah and this blessed verse: "Our Lord! Do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us Your special mercy. Surely You are the Bestower of abundance" [Surah Al Imran: 8].
