It is narrated from Nafi' that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) gave the adhan on a cold night at a place called Dajnan, then said: 'Sallu fi rihalikum' (Pray in your dwellings). And he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to order the caller, so he would call to the prayer (that is, give the adhan), then after it he would call out: "On a cold night or a rainy night, pray in your dwellings."

Nafi' narrated that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) gave the adhan for the Isha prayer on a cold night at a place called Dajnan, and after it he said: "Listen! Pray in your dwellings." And he told us that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to order the mu'adhdhin to say these words after the adhan: "On a cold or rainy night during a journey, pray in your dwellings."

Sayyiduna Nu'aym bin al-Nahham (may Allah be pleased with him), who was from Banu Adi bin Ka'b, said: The adhan for the morning prayer was called on a cold day while he was under his wife's wrap. He said: "If only the caller would also say: 'And whoever stays sitting at home, there is no blame.'" The mu'adhdhin of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called out at the end of the adhan: "Whoever stays sitting (at home), there is no blame." And this was in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
