وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ مَطَرٍ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الشَّعْثَاءِ، يَقُولُ: سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَنْ لَحْمِ الصَّيْدِ يُهْدِيهِ الْحَلَالُ لِلْحَرَامِ، قَالَ: " كَانَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يَأْكُلُهُ "، قُلْتُ: إِنَّمَا أَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ نَفْسِكَ أَتَأْكُلُهُ؟، قَالَ: " كَانَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يَأْكُلُهُ "، قُلْتُ: إِنَّمَا أَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ نَفْسِكَ أَتَأْكُلُهُ؟، قَالَ: " كَانَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ خَيْرًا مِنِّي ".
Abu al-Sha'tha (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about game meat that a person not in ihram gives as a gift to one in ihram. He said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to eat it. I said: I am asking you about yourself; do you eat it? He said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to eat it. I said: I am asking you about yourself; do you eat it? He said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was better than me.
