Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I went with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) to Makkah, and he kept saying the talbiyah. A Bedouin heard him on the night of Arafah and said: Who is this saying the talbiyah at this place? I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) saying the talbiyah; he was saying: 'Labbayka 'adadat-turab' (Here I am, as many as the particles of dust, here I am). I had not heard him say the talbiyah like this before or after. Then we reached Jam', and he led us in two prayers, each with an adhan and an iqamah, and between them he ate the evening meal. Then, when dawn broke, he led the Fajr prayer and said: Indeed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These two prayers are shifted from their time at this place, namely Maghrib and Fajr; the people do not reach Muzdalifah until it is time for Isha." And he led the Fajr prayer at this time. Then he stood until it became bright, and said: "If the Commander of the Believers, meaning Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), were to depart now, he would accord with the Sunnah." I do not know whether he said this first or Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) departed first. Then he did not stop the talbiyah until he stoned Jamrat al-Aqabah on the Day of Sacrifice.
Imam Ahmad (al-Bayhaqi) said: I do not hold his words "they are shifted from their time" to be established from the two of them.
