أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينِ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَهُمْ ثنا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا قَزَعَةَ يُحَدِّثُ، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ: قَدْ حَجَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ نَكُنْ نَفْعَلُهُ، قَالَ الشَّيْخُ: الْأَوَّلُ مَعَ إِرْسَالِهِ أَشْهَرُ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ مُهَاجِرٍ وَلَهُ شَوَاهِدُ، وَإِنْ كَانَتْ مُرْسَلَةً، وَالْقَوْلُ فِي مِثْلٍ هَذَا قَوْلُ مَنْ رَأَى وَأَثْبَتَ.
(Through another chain, with the same meaning,) except that he said: We performed Hajj with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and we did not do it.
The Shaykh (al-Bayhaqi) said: The first report (about raising the hands on seeing the House), despite being mursal, is better known among the scholars than the hadith of Muhajir, and it has supporting reports, even if they are mursal; and in a matter like this, the word of the one who saw and affirmed it is to be taken.
