أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ، أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، أنبأ شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُثْمَانَ وَعَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ وَعُثْمَانُ يَنْهَى عَنِ الْمُتْعَةِ وَأَنْ يُجْمَعَ بَيْنَهُمَا، فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ عَلِيٌّ أَهَلَّ بِهِمَا جَمِيعًا، قَالَ: " لَبَّيْكَ عَمْرَةً وَحَجَّةً مَعًا "، قَالَ: فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ: " تَرَانِي أَنْهَى النَّاسَ عَنْ شَيْءٍ وَتَفْعَلُهُ أَنْتَ؟ "، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: " لَمْ أَكُنْ لِأَدَعَ سُنَّةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِقَوْلِ أَحَدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ " أَخْرَجَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ غُنْدَرٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ.
Marwan bin al-Hakam (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I heard Uthman and Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) between Makkah and Madinah. Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was forbidding mut'ah, that Hajj and Umrah should be combined. When Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saw this, he began to say the talbiyah for both Hajj and Umrah. Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I forbid something and you do it? He said: I will not abandon the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) because of the word of any person.
