أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْقَطَّانُ بِبَغْدَادَ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، أنبأ الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ حَنَشٍ، قَالَ: مَاتَ سَهْلُ بْنُ حُنَيْفٍ فَأُتِيَ بِهِ الرَّحَبَةَ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، فَلَمَّا أَتَيْنَا الْجَبَّانَةَ لَحِقَنَا قَرَظَةُ بْنُ كَعْبٍ فِي نَاسٍ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ أَوْ فِي نَاسٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالُوا: يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَمْ نَشْهَدِ الصَّلَاةَ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: " صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ "، فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَكَانَ إِمَامُهُمْ قَرَظَةَ بْنَ كَعْبٍ.
Hanash (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) died, and he was brought to an open square, and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) prayed the funeral prayer over him. When we reached al-Jabbanah, we met Sayyiduna Qarazah bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), who was among his people or among the Ansar. They said: O Commander of the Believers! We were not able to join the prayer over him. He said: Pray the funeral prayer over him. And their imam was Sayyiduna Qarazah bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) himself.
