It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he used to raise his hands at every takbir of the funeral prayer, and when he stood up after two rak'ahs, meaning in the obligatory prayer. It is also reported from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the funeral prayer that whenever he said the takbir, he would raise his hands.
Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The like of this has been conveyed to me from Sa'id bin al-Musayyab and Urwah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on them both).
