Amrah bint Abd al-Rahman narrates from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that a Jewish woman came to her (and began asking about the punishment of the grave), and she said to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): "May Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave." Then she (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "Will people be punished in their graves?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I seek refuge with Allah from that." Then one morning he (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted a riding animal, and the sun was eclipsed. He (peace and blessings be upon him) returned at forenoon (duha). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed between the apartments. Then he stood up to pray, and the people stood behind him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) stood for a long time. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed a long bowing. Then he raised his head from the bowing and stood for a long time, somewhat less than the first standing. Then he performed a long bowing, somewhat less than the first bowing. Then he raised his head from the bowing and prostrated. Then he stood and stood for a long time, somewhat less than the first standing. Then he performed a long bowing, somewhat less than the first bowing. Then he raised his head from the bowing, then stood for a long time, somewhat less than the first standing. Then he performed a long bowing, somewhat less than the first bowing. Then he raised his head from the bowing, prostrated and finished, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said what Allah willed. Then he said: "Seek refuge from the punishment of the grave."
