أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْمُقْرِئُ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ، ثنا حَمَّادٌ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، عَنْ رَجَاءِ بْنِ حَيْوَةَ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يَقْرَأُ خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: تَقْرَأُ خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ؟ فَقَالَ عُبَادَةُ: " لَا صَلَاةَ إِلَّا بِقِرَاءَةٍ ".
Mahmud bin al-Rabi' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Ubadah bin al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) reciting Surah al-Fatihah behind the imam, so I said to him: Do you recite even behind the imam? Sayyiduna Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "There is no prayer without recitation."
