Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Makkah, and its people stood in two rows looking at the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), while Ibn Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) was walking in front of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and saying:
O disbelievers! Clear his way today.
Today we will strike the neck of whoever comes out against him,
(a blow) that severs skulls from bodies and parts friend from friend.
O my Lord! I am a believer in his word.
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Ibn Rawahah! Are you reciting poetry in the Sanctuary and in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umar, stop. By Allah, in Whose Hand is my soul, these words strike them harder than arrows."
Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said that a rider from Banu Tamim caught up with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and with them was a camel-driver singing huda.
