وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ، ثنا بَحْرٌ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ لَعِبِ الشِّطْرَنْجِ، فَقَالَ: " هِيَ مِنَ الْبَاطِلِ، وَلَا أُحِبُّهَا ".
Uqayl (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about playing chess, and he said: It is falsehood; I dislike it.
