Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Which animals should be avoided in sacrifice? He (peace and blessings be upon him), gesturing with his hand, said: "The sacrifice of four kinds of animals should be avoided." Then he said: My hand is shorter than the hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). "A one-eyed animal whose loss of an eye is evident, a lame animal whose lameness is evident, a sick animal whose sickness is clear, and an old animal that has no marrow in its bones." Ubayd bin Fayruz (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I dislike a defect in the horn, ear and teeth. Sayyiduna al-Bara' (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Dislike for yourself whatever you wish, but do not make it unlawful for anyone else.
Al-Bukhari inclined towards authenticating the narration of Shu'bah and did not accept the narration of Uthman bin Umar. And Allah knows best.
