Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: A woman borrowed (meaning: jewellery) in the names of people who were known, while she herself was not known; then she sold it and kept (the money). She was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and he ordered that her hand be cut off. She is the one for whom Usamah bin Zayd interceded, and about whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said what he said.
Abdullah bin Wahb differed from him in narrating it from Yunus, saying: from al-Zuhri, from Urwah, from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), that Quraysh were troubled by the matter of the woman who stole in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during the campaign of the Conquest (of Makkah); then he mentioned the hadith, and it has already been mentioned.
