قَالَ: وَأنبأ يَزِيدُ، أنبأ يَحْيَى، أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ إِسْحَاقَ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ذَكَرَ لَهُ حَدِيثَ فُرَيْعَةَ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهَا حَتَّى دَخَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ فَسَأَلَهَا عَنِ الْحَدِيثِ فَحَدَّثَتْهُ لَفْظَ حَدِيثِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ الشَّيْخُ: وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ثُمَّ لَقِيَ سَعْدَ بْنَ إِسْحَاقَ فَحَدَّثَهُ بِهِ.
It is narrated from Yahya that Sa'd bin Ishaq informed him that the hadith of Furay'ah (may Allah be pleased with her) was mentioned to Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him). He sent (a messenger) to her, and when she came in to him, he asked her about the hadith, and Furay'ah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that hadith to him.
