أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا كَهْمَسٌ، عَنْ سَيَّارِ بْنِ مَنْظُورٍ، رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي فَزَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا بُهَيْسَةُ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا، قَالَتِ: اسْتَأْذَنَ أَبِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَدَخَلَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ قَمِيصِهِ فَجَعَلَ يُقَبِّلُ وَيَلْتَزِمُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، مَا الشَّيْءُ الَّذِي لَا يَحِلُّ مَنْعُهُ؟ قَالَ: الْمَاءُ، قَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ مَا الشَّيْءُ الَّذِي لَا يَحِلُّ مَنْعُهُ؟ قَالَ: " الْمِلْحُ "، قَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، مَا الشَّيْءُ الَّذِي لَا يَحِلُّ مَنْعُهُ؟ قَالَ: " أَنْ تَفْعَلَ الْخَيْرَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ ".
Sayyar bin Manzur, a man of Banu Fazarah, narrates from his father, from a woman called Buhaysah, from her father (may Allah be pleased with him), that she said: My father sought permission from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He entered, kissed him and clung to him, and said: "O Prophet of Allah! What is the thing which it is not lawful to withhold?" He said: "Water." Then he said: "O Prophet of Allah! What is the thing which it is not lawful to withhold?" He said: "Salt." Then he said: "O Prophet of Allah! What is the thing which it is not lawful to withhold?" He said: "Whatever good you do is better for you."
