«كافل اليتيم له أو لغيره أنا وهو كهاتين في الجنة»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The one who takes care of an orphan, whether his own or someone else's, he and I will be (together) in Paradise like these two (fingers)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

«كان الرجل قبلكم يؤخذ فيحفر له في الأرض فيجعل فيه فيجاء بالمنشار فيوضع على رأسه فيشق باثنتين ما يصده ذلك عن دينه ويمشط بأمشاط الحديد ما دون لحمه من عظم أو عصب ما يصده ذلك عن دينه والله ليتمن الله هذا الأمر حتى يسير الراكب من صنعاء إلى حضرموت لا يخاف إلا الله والذئب على غنمه ولكنكم تستعجلون»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A man (among the people) before you would be seized, a pit would be dug for him in the ground and he would be made to stand in it. Then a saw would be brought and placed on his head, and he would be split into two pieces, yet that would not turn him away from his religion. And his flesh would be combed away from his bones and sinews with iron combs, yet that too would not turn him away from his religion. By Allah! Allah will surely complete this religion, until a rider travels from San'a to Hadramawt fearing no one but Allah, and (fearing) the wolf for his sheep. But you are being hasty."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Dawud (peace be upon him) was the most devoted in worship of all human beings."

«كان رجل يداين الناس فكان يقول لفتاه: إذا أتيت معسرا فتجأوز عنه لعل الله أن يتجأوز عنا فلقي الله فتجاوز عنه»

"A man used to lend to people, and he would say to his servant: When you come to someone in hardship, forgive him; perhaps Allah will forgive us. So he met Allah, and Allah forgave him."

«كان رجلان في بني إسرائيل متواخيان وكان أحدهما مذنبا والآخر مجتهدا في العبادة وكان لا يزال المجتهد يرى الآخر على الذنب فيقول: أقصر فوجده يوما على ذنب فقال له: أقصر فقال: خلني وربي أبعثت علي رقيبا؟ ! فقال: والله لا يغفر الله لك أو لا يدخلك الله الجنة فقبض روحهما فاجتمعا عند رب العالمين فقال لهذا المجتهد: أكنت بي عالما أو كنت على ما في يدي قادرا؟ ! وقال للمذنب: اذهب فادخل الجنة برحمتي وقال للآخر: اذهبوا به إلى النار»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"There were two men among the Children of Israel who were like brothers to each other. One of them was a sinner and the other was diligent in worship. The worshipper would constantly see the other in sin and say: Stop it. One day he found him in sin again and said: Stop it. He said: Leave me to my Lord; have you been sent as a watcher over me?! So he (the worshipper) said: By Allah! Allah will never forgive you, or Allah will never admit you into Paradise. Then the souls of both of them were taken, and they both gathered before the Lord of the worlds. Allah Almighty said to this worshipper: Did you have knowledge of Me, or did you have power over what is in My hand?! And He said to the sinner: Go and enter Paradise by My mercy. And He said about the other: Take him to Hell."

"Ashura was a day on which the people of the Jahiliyyah used to fast. So whoever among you wishes to fast it, let him fast it, and whoever wishes to leave it, let him leave it."

"There was a branch of a tree on the road that used to harm people. A man removed it from the road, and he was admitted into Paradise."

«كان في بني إسرائيل رجل قتل تسعة وتسعين إنسانا ثم خرج يسأل فأتى راهبا فسأله فقال له: ألي توبة؟ قال: لا فقتله فجعل يسأل فقال له رجل: ائت قرية كذا وكذا فأدركه الموت فنأى بصدره نحوها فاختصمت فيه ملائكة الرحمة وملائكة العذاب فأوحى الله إلى هذه: أن تقربي وأوحى الله إلى هذه: أن تباعدي وقال: قيسوا ما بينهما فوجداه إلى هذه أقرب بشبر فغفر له»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"There was a man among the Children of Israel who had killed ninety-nine people. Then he went out asking (about the way to repentance), and he came to a monk and asked him. He said: Is there repentance for me? The monk said: No. So he killed him as well. Then he kept on asking, and a man said to him: Go to such-and-such a town. Death overtook him on the way, and he inclined his chest towards that town. Then the angels of mercy and the angels of punishment disputed about him. Allah Almighty revealed to this (town): Draw near, and revealed to that (town): Move away, and said: Measure the distance between the two places. They found him closer to this one (the town he was heading for) by a hand-span, so he was forgiven."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"You used to have two days on which you would play, and Allah has given you in exchange for them two days better than them: the day of Eid al-Fitr and the day of Eid al-Adha."

"كان ملك فيمن كان قبلكم وكان له ساحر فلما كبر قال للملك: إني قد كبرت فابعث إلي غلاما أعلمه السحر فبعث إليه غلاما يعلمه فكان في طريقه إذا سلك راهب فقعد إليه وسمع كلامه، فأعجبه، فكان إذا أتى الساحر مر بالراهب وقعد إليه فإذا أتى الساحر ضربه فشكا ذلك إلى الراهب فقال: إذا جئت الساحر فقل: حبسني أهلي وإذا جئت أهلك فقل: حبسني الساحر، فبينما هوكذلك إذ أتى على دابة عظيمة قد حبست الناس فقال: اليوم أعلم الساحر أفضل أم الراهب؟ فأخذ حجرا فقال: اللهم إن كان أمر الراهب أحب إليك من أمر الساحر فاقتل هذه الدابة حتى يمضي الناس فرماها فقتلها ومضى الناس، فأتى الراهب فأخبره فقال له الراهب: أي بني أنت اليوم أفضل مني قد بلغ من أمرك ما أرى وإنك ستبتلى فلا تدل علي، وكان الغلام يبرئ الأكمه والأبرص ويدأوي الناس من سائر الأدواء فسمع جليس للملك كان قد عمي فأتاه بهدايا كثيرة فقال: ما هاهنا أجمع لك إن أنت شفيتني قال: إني لا أشفي أحد إنما يشفي الله عز وجل فإن آمنت بالله دعوت الله فشفاك فآمن بالله فشفاه الله، فأتى الملك فجلس إليه كما كان يجلس فقال له الملك: من رد عليك بصرك؟ قال: ربي قال: ولك رب غيري؟ قال: ربي وربك الله فأخذه فلم يزل يعذبه حتى دل على الغلام فجيء بالغلام فقال له الملك: أي بني قد بلغ من سحرك ما يبرئ الأكمه والأبرص وتفعل وتفعل! فقال: إني لا أشفي أحدا إنما يشفي الله عز وجل، فأخذه فلم يزل يعذبه حتى دل على الراهب فجيء بالراهب فقيل له: ارجع عن دينك فأبى فدعا بالمنشار فوضع المنشار على مفرق رأسه فشقه به حتى وقع شقاه ثم جيء بجليس الملك فقيل له: ارجع عن دينك فأبى فوضع المنشار في مفرق رأسه فشقه حتى وقع شقاه ثم جيء بالغلام فقيل له: ارجع عن دينك فأبى فدفعه إلى نفر من أصحابه فقال: اذهبوا به إلى جبل كذا وكذا فاصعدوا به الجبل فإذا بلغتم به ذروته فإن رجع عن دينه وإلا فاطرحوه، فذهبوا به فصعدوا به الجبل فقال: اللهم اكفنيهم بما شئت فرجف بهم الجبل فسقطوا وجاء يمشي إلى الملك فقال له الملك: ما فعل أصحابك؟ فقال: كفانيهم الله فدفعه إلى نفر من أصحابه فقال: اذهبوا به فاحملوه في قرقور فتوسطوا به البحر فإن رجع عن دينه وإلا فاقذفوه فذهبوا به فقال: اللهم اكفنيهم بما شئت فانكفأت بهم السفينة فغرقوا وجاء يمشي إلى الملك فقال له الملك: ما فعل أصحابك؟ فقال: كفانيهم الله، فقال للملك: إنك لست بقاتلي حتى تفعل ما آمرك به! قال: وما هو؟ قال: تجمع الناس في صعيد واحد وتصلبني على جذع ثم خذ سهما من كنانتي ثم ضع السهم في كبد القوس ثم قل: بسم الله رب الغلام ثم ارم فإنك إذا فعلت ذلك قتلتني، فجمع الناس في صعيد واحد وصلبه على جذع ثم أخذ سهما من كنانته ثم وضع السهم في كبد القوس ثم قال: بسم الله رب الغلام ثم رماه فوقع السهم في صدغه فوضع يده في صدغه موضع السهم فمات، فقال الناس: آمنا برب الغلام، آمنا برب الغلام آمنا برب الغلام فأتى الملك فقيل له: أرأيت ما كنت تحذر؟ قد والله نزل بك حذرك قد آمن الناس! فأمر بالأخدود بأفواه السكك فخدت وأضرم النيران وقال: من لم يرجع عن دينه فأقحموه فيها ففعلوا حتى جاءت امرأة ومعها صبي لها فتقاعست أن تقع فيها فقال لها الغلام: يا أمه اصبري فإنك على الحق "
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Among the people before you there was a king who had a sorcerer. When he grew old, he said to the king: I have grown old, so send me a boy so that I may teach him sorcery. So the king sent him a boy for him to teach. On the boy's way there lived a monk; he would sit with him and listen to his words, and he came to like them. So whenever he went to the sorcerer, he would pass by the monk and sit with him, and when he reached the sorcerer, the sorcerer would beat him. He complained about this to the monk, and the monk said: When you go to the sorcerer, say: My family held me back; and when you go to your family, say: The sorcerer held me back. While he was in this state, a huge beast suddenly came and blocked the people's way. He said: Today I will know whether the sorcerer is better or the monk. He picked up a stone and said: O Allah, if the monk's way is more beloved to You than the sorcerer's way, then kill this beast so that the people may pass. He threw the stone, the beast died, and the people passed. He came to the monk and told him, and the monk said: My son, today you are better than me. Your affair has reached the level that I see, and you will surely be tested, so do not tell anyone where I am. The boy would cure the one born blind and the leper, and heal people of other diseases as well. A companion of the king who had become blind heard of this, and he came to him with many gifts and said: All this is yours if you cure me. The boy said: I do not cure anyone; only Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, cures. If you believe in Allah, I will pray to Allah and He will cure you. So he believed in Allah, and Allah cured him. Then he came to the king and sat with him as he used to sit before. The king asked him: Who restored your sight? He said: My Lord. The king said: Do you have a lord other than me? He said: My Lord and your Lord is Allah. So the king seized him and kept torturing him until he pointed out the boy. The boy was brought, and the king said to him: My son, your sorcery has reached the point that you cure the one born blind and the leper, and you do this and that! The boy said: I do not cure anyone; only Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, cures. So the king seized him and kept torturing him until he pointed out the monk. The monk was brought and told: Turn back from your religion. He refused, so a saw was sent for, placed in the middle of his head, and he was sawn through until his two halves fell apart. Then the king's companion was brought and told: Turn back from your religion. He too refused, so the saw was placed in the middle of his head and he was sawn through until his two halves fell apart. Then the boy was brought and told: Turn back from your religion. He refused, so the king handed him over to some of his men and said: Take him to such-and-such a mountain and make him climb it; when you reach its summit, if he turns back from his religion (well and good), otherwise throw him down. So they took him and made him climb the mountain, and the boy said: O Allah, save me from them in whatever way You will. The mountain shook, they all fell, and the boy came walking to the king. The king asked: What happened to your companions? He said: Allah saved me from them. The king then handed him over to some other men of his and said: Take him, put him on a boat and take him to the middle of the sea; if he turns back from his religion (well and good), otherwise throw him into the sea. So they took him, and the boy said: O Allah, save me from them in whatever way You will. The boat capsized with them and they all drowned, and the boy came walking to the king. The king asked: What happened to your companions? He said: Allah saved me from them. Then the boy said to the king: You cannot kill me until you do what I command you. The king asked: What is it? The boy said: Gather the people on one open plain and crucify me on a tree trunk, then take an arrow from my quiver, place it in the middle of the bow, then say: In the name of Allah, the Lord of this boy, and then shoot. If you do that, you will be able to kill me. So the king gathered the people on one open plain and crucified him on a tree trunk, then took an arrow from his quiver, placed it in the middle of the bow and said: In the name of Allah, the Lord of this boy, and then shot the arrow, and it struck him in the temple. He placed his hand on the spot where the arrow had struck and died. The people said: We believe in the Lord of this boy, we believe in the Lord of this boy, we believe in the Lord of this boy. The king was approached and told: Have you seen what you used to fear? By Allah, the very thing you feared has befallen you; the people have believed! So the king had trenches dug at the entrances of the roads, had fires lit in them and said: Whoever does not turn back from his religion, throw him into it. And so it was done, until a woman came carrying her child, and she hesitated to fall into it. Her child said to her: Mother, be patient, for you are on the truth."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"One of the prophets used to draw lines (on the ground), so whoever's (lines) agree with his line, then that is fine."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"This matter (of rule) was among (the people of) Himyar, then Allah took it away from them and placed it in Quraysh, and it will soon return to them (Himyar)."

«كانت امرأة من بني إسرائيل قصيرة تمشي مع امرأتين طويلتين فاتخذت رجلين من خشب وخاتما من ذهب مغلفا بطين ثم حشته مسكا وهو أطيب الطيب فمرت بين المرأتين فلم يعرفوها فقالت بيدها هكذا»

"A short woman of the Children of Israel used to walk with two tall women, so she had two legs made of wood, and took a gold ring, covered it with clay, then filled it with musk, which is the best of perfumes. One day she passed between the two women and they did not recognise her, and she gestured with her hand like this."

«كانت امرأتان معهما ابناهما جاء الذئب فذهب بابن إحداهما فقالت صاحبتها: إنما ذهب بابنك وقالت الأخرى إنما ذهب بابنك! فتحاكمتا إلى داود فقضى به للكبرى فخرجتا على سليمان بن داود فأخبرتاه بذلك فقال ائتوني بالسكين أشقه بينهما فقالت الصغرى: لا تفعل يرحمك الله هوابنها فقضى به للصغرى»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"There were two women who had their sons with them. A wolf came and took away the son of one of them. Her companion said: It has taken your son; and the other said: No, it has taken your son. They both went to Dawud (peace be upon him) for judgement, and he judged in favour of the older woman. Then they both left and went to Sulayman bin Dawud (peace be upon him) and told him what had happened. Sulayman (peace be upon him) said: Bring me a knife, and I will cut him in two between them. The younger woman said: Do not do it, may Allah have mercy on you; he is her son. So Sulayman (peace be upon him) judged in favour of the younger woman."

The younger woman said: Do not do it, may Allah have mercy on you; he is her son. So Sulayman (peace be upon him) judged in favour of the younger woman."
" كانت بنوإسرائيل تسوسهم الأنبياء كلما هلك نبي خلفه نبي وإنه لا نبي بعدي وسيكون خلفاء فيكثرون قالوا: فما تأمرنا قال: فوا بيعة الأول فالأول وأعطوهم حقهم الذي جعله الله لهم فإن الله سائلهم عما استرعاهم"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The Children of Israel were governed by the prophets; whenever a prophet died, another prophet succeeded him. And there is no prophet after me, but there will soon be caliphs, and they will be many. The Companions asked: Then what do you command us? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fulfil the pledge of allegiance to the first, then to the one after him, and give them their due right that Allah has appointed for them, for Allah will surely ask them about the responsibility that was entrusted to them."

«كانت بنوإسرائيل يغتسلون عراة ينظر بعضهم إلى بعض وكان موسى عليه السلام يغتسل وحده فقالوا: والله ما يمنع موسى أن يغتسل معنا إلا أنه آدر فذهب مرة يغتسل فوضع ثوبه على حجر ففر الحجر بثوبه فجمح موسى في أثره يقول: ثوبي يا حجر ثوبي يا حجر حتى نظرت بنوإسرائيل إلى موسى فقالوا: والله ما بموسى من بأس وأخذ ثوبه فطفق بالحجر ضربا»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The Children of Israel used to bathe naked together, looking at one another, while Musa (peace be upon him) used to bathe alone. They said: By Allah, nothing prevents Musa from bathing with us except that he suffers from a scrotal swelling. One day Musa (peace be upon him) went to bathe and placed his garment on a stone, and the stone ran off with his garment. Musa (peace be upon him) ran after it, saying: My garment, O stone! My garment, O stone! Until the Children of Israel saw Musa (peace be upon him) and said: By Allah, there is nothing wrong with Musa. Then he took his garment and began striking the stone."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"It is as if I am looking at Musa (peace be upon him) in this valley, in the state of ihram, wrapped in two (particular kinds of) cloaks."

"It is as if I am looking at Yunus (peace be upon him), riding a she-camel whose halter is made of palm fibre, wearing a woollen cloak and saying: Labbayk Allahumma labbayk (Here I am, O Allah, here I am)."

"The son of Adam's share of zina (fornication) has been written for him, and he will inevitably attain it. The zina of the eyes is looking, the zina of the ears is listening, the zina of the tongue is speaking, the zina of the hand is seizing, the zina of the foot is walking, and the heart desires and wishes, and the private part confirms it or denies it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Kikh, kikh (spit it out)! Throw it away. Do you not know that we do not eat charity (sadaqah)?"

"The flashing of swords over a person's head is enough of a (great) trial for him."

"Disowning one's lineage, however insignificant it may be, is disbelief in Allah."

"The expiation for a gathering is that the servant says: 'Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika, ashhadu an la ilaha illa anta wahdaka la sharika laka, astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk' (Glory be to You, O Allah, and all praise is Yours. I bear witness that there is no true god but You alone, You have no partner. I seek Your forgiveness and I turn to You in repentance)."
