«المدينة حرام ما بين عير إلى ثور لا يختلى خلاها ولا ينفر صيدها ولا تلتقط لقطتها إلا لمن أشاد بها ولا يصلح لرجل أن يحمل فيها سلاحا لقتال ولا يصلح أن يقطع منها شجرة إلا أن يعلف رجل بعيره»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Madinah is a sanctuary from Ayr to Thawr. Its grass is not to be cut, its game is not to be disturbed, and its lost property is not to be picked up except by one who announces it. It is not proper for a man to carry weapons in it for fighting, nor is it proper for any of its trees to be cut, except that a man may cut to feed his camel."
