It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman and Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty will gather the people, and when Paradise is brought near (to the God-fearing), the believers will stand up. They will come to Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) and say: 'O our father! Ask for the gate of Paradise to be opened for us.' He will say: 'Was it not the sin of your father that expelled you from Paradise? I am not fit for this position. Go to Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him), the Khalil (intimate friend) of Allah.' Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) will say: 'I am not fit for it; I was only a Khalil from afar, in all humility. Go to Allah's Prophet, Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him), to whom Allah spoke directly.' They will come to Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) and he will say: 'I am not fit for it. Go to the Word of Allah and His Spirit, Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him).' Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him) will say: 'I am not fit for it.' Then they will come to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) will stand (at the station of intercession) and permission will be granted to him. Trustworthiness (al-amanah) and the ties of kinship (al-rahim) will be sent with him (peace and blessings be upon him), and they will stand on the right and left sides of the Sirat. Then the first group of you will pass like the flash of lightning." (The narrator said:) I said: May my father and mother be ransomed for you! What is meant by passing like the flash of lightning? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Have you not seen lightning, how it passes and returns in the blink of an eye? Then (others will pass) like the passing of the wind, then like the flight of a bird, and like the running of swift men; their deeds will carry them along. And your Prophet will be standing on the Sirat supplicating: 'Rabbi sallim sallim' (O my Lord, keep them safe, keep them safe). Until the deeds of the people fall short, until a man will come who will not be able to pass except by crawling. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On both edges of the Sirat there will be hanging hooks that are commanded to seize those whom they have been ordered to seize. So some will be scratched but saved, and some will be thrown headlong into Hell." By the One in whose Hand is the soul of Abu Hurayrah! The depth of Hell is a distance of seventy years.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection a man will meet his father and say to him: 'O my father! What kind of son was I to you?' He will say: 'The best of sons.' The son will say: 'Will you obey me today?' He will say: 'Yes.' The son will say: 'Hold on to my waist-wrapper.' So he will hold on to his waist-wrapper. Then he will proceed until he comes before Allah Almighty while He is reviewing the creation. Allah Almighty will say: 'O My servant! Enter Paradise by whichever of its gates you wish.' He will say: 'O my Lord! Will my father also (enter) with me? For You promised me that You would not disgrace me.' He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then Allah Almighty will turn away from him. Then He will say: 'O My servant! Enter Paradise by whichever of its gates you wish.' He will say: 'O my Lord! Will my father also be with me? For You promised me that You would not disgrace me.' He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then Allah Almighty will again turn away from him. Then He will say: 'O My servant! Enter Paradise by whichever of its gates you wish.' He will again say: 'O my Lord! And my father too with me? For You promised me that You would not disgrace me.' He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then Allah Almighty will transform his father into a hyena (a kind of animal), and he will fall into Hell and be seized by his nose. Then Allah Almighty will say: 'O My servant! Is this your father?' He will say: 'No, by Your Might!'"
