It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the night the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was taken on the Night Journey (Mi'raj), he (peace and blessings be upon him) met Sayyiduna Ibrahim, Sayyiduna Musa and Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon them). They discussed among themselves when the Hour would come. They began with Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and asked him about it, but he had no knowledge of it. Then they asked Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him), and he too had no knowledge of it. So the matter was referred to Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him), and he said: Allah Almighty has informed me of the conditions before its occurrence, but no one knows its actual time except Allah. Then he mentioned the emergence of the Dajjal (and said): So I will descend and kill him. Then the people will return to their lands, and they will be confronted by Ya'juj and Ma'juj, "and they will swarm down from every elevation." They will not pass by any water without drinking it up, nor by anything without destroying it. Then the people will cry out to me for help, so I will supplicate to Allah and Allah will cause them to die, and the earth will become foul with their stench. Then the people will cry out to me for help, so I will supplicate to Allah, and Allah will send down rain from the sky, which will carry them away and throw them into the sea. Then the mountains will be ground to dust, and the earth will be spread out like leather. So Allah's covenant with me is that when these (signs) are fulfilled, the Hour will be as near to the people as a pregnant woman whose term is complete, whose family does not know when she will suddenly give birth, by night or by day. Al-Awwam said: I found confirmation of this in the Book of Allah; then he recited this verse: "Until, when Ya'juj and Ma'juj are let loose and they swarm down from every elevation, and the true promise draws near" [Surah al-Anbiya: 96-97].
