It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said concerning the barrier (of Ya'juj and Ma'juj): "They dig through it every day, until when they are about to break through it, the one in charge of them says: Go back; you will break through it tomorrow. Then Allah Almighty makes it even stronger than before. Until, when their term is complete and Allah wills (their emergence), the one in charge of them says: Go back; you will break through it tomorrow, if Allah wills, and he makes the exception (by saying In sha' Allah). So they return (the next day) and find it in the same state in which they left it. Then they will break through it and come out upon the people. They will drink up all the water, and the people will flee from them in fear. Then they will shoot their arrows towards the sky, and they will come back smeared with blood, and they will say, in their arrogance and haughtiness: We have overpowered the people of the earth and prevailed over those in the heavens. Then Allah Almighty will send upon them a worm in the napes of their necks, which will destroy them." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One in whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! The beasts of the earth will grow very fat from eating their flesh, their bellies will be full, and they will be exceedingly grateful (or he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: they will become intoxicated)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The manuscripts have "فيسقون", while the text established here is taken from the printed edition, and it is the more fitting (awjah).
Grading: All the narrators of this chain, (from first) to last, are thiqah, but al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir objected to its being "marfu'" to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as in his "Tafsir" (5/194), and he inclined to the view that it is a narration of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from Ka'b al-Ahbar! And Allah knows best. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Identification of the narrators: "Abu al-Walid al-Tayalisi" refers to Hisham bin 'Abd al-Malik, "Abu 'Awanah" refers to Waddah al-Yashkuri, and "Abu Rafi'" refers to Nufay' al-Sa'igh, who is a mukhadram Tabi'i. Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi (3153) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar and several other narrators, from Hisham bin 'Abd al-Malik, with this same chain, and he (al-Tirmidhi) graded it "hasan". Reference / Source: Ahmad (16/10632 and 10633), Ibn Majah (4080) and Ibn Hibban (6829) narrated it through various routes from Qatadah. Note / Clarification: "النَّغَف": worms found in the noses of camels and sheep. Note / Clarification: "تَشكَر": that is, they will grow fat and fill with fat.
