حدثني أبو بكر محمد بن أحمد بن بالَوَيهِ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْر بن موسى الأَسَدي، حَدَّثَنَا الحسن بن موسى الأشْيَب، حَدَّثَنَا حماد بن سَلَمة، عن عمّار بن أبي عمّار (2)، عن ابن عبّاس قال: رأيتُ النَّبِيّ ﷺ فيما يرى النائمُ نِصفَ النهار، أشعثَ أغبرَ معه قارورةٌ فيها دم، فقلتُ: يا نبيَّ الله، ما هذا؟ قال: "هذا دمُ الحُسين وأصحابِه، لم أزَلْ أَلتقِطُه منذ اليومِ"، قال: فأُحصيَ ذلك اليومُ فوجدوه قُتل قبل ذلك بيوم (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a dream at midday, his hair dishevelled and covered in dust, with a flask containing blood. I said: O Prophet of Allah, what is this? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is the blood of Husayn and his companions; I have been gathering it continuously since today." The narrator said: That day was calculated, and it was found that Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) had been martyred one day before that.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

أخبرَناه أبو الحسين علي بن عبد الرحمن السَّبيعي (2) بالكوفة، حَدَّثَنَا أحمد بن حازمٍ الغِفَاريّ، حَدَّثَنَا خالد بن مَخْلَد القَطَواني، قال: حدثني موسى بن يعقوب الزَّمْعي، أخبرني هاشم بن هاشم بن عُتْبة بن أبي وَقّاص، عن عبد الله بن وهب بن زَمْعة، قال: أخبرتنى أم سَلَمة: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ اضطَجَعَ ذات ليلةٍ للنوم فاستيقظ وهو خاثرٌ، ثم اضطجع فرَقَدَ، ثم استيقظ خاثرًا دون ما رأيتُ به المرةَ الأُولى، ثم اضطجع فاستيقظ وفي يده تُرْبةٌ حمراءُ يُقلِّبُها (3)، فقلتُ: ما هذه التربةُ يا رسول الله؟ قال: "أخبرَني جبريل ﵇ أنَّ هذا يُقتَلُ بأرض العِرَاق - للحُسين - فقلتُ لجبريل: أَرِني تربةَ الأرض التي يُقتَل بها، فهذه تُربَتُها" (4).

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) lay down one night to sleep, then woke up in a state of distress. Then he lay down and slept, then woke up less distressed than the first time. Then he lay down, and when he woke up there was red soil in his (peace and blessings be upon him) hand which he (peace and blessings be upon him) was turning over. I said: O Messenger of Allah, what is this soil? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibril (peace be upon him) informed me that this one (Husayn) will be killed in the land of Iraq. I said to Jibril: Show me the soil of the place where he will be killed; and this is its soil."
