It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was admonishing his Companions when three people passed by. One of them came and sat down with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the second went a little distance away and sat down, and the third kept going on his way. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As for the one who came and sat with us, he repented and Allah accepted his repentance. As for the one who went a little distance away and sat down, he felt shy, so Allah too was shy of him. And as for the one who kept going on his way, he showed himself independent, so Allah too became independent of him."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Aswad bin Sari' (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin captive was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: I repent to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and I do not repent to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He has recognised the right as belonging to its rightful owner."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
