أخبرني أبو سهل أحمد بن محمد بن زياد النَّحْوي ببغداد، حدّثنا الحسن ابن مُكرَم، حدّثنا أبو عاصم، عن عَوف، عن أبي رجاء، عن سَمُرة بن جُندُب، أَنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "ألا إنَّ المرأةَ خُلقت من ضِلَعٍ، وإنك إِنْ تُرِدْ إقامتها تَكسِرْها، فدَارِها تَعِشْ بها ثلاث مرات (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه. وشاهدُه حديث ابن عَجْلان عن أبيه عن أبي هريرة عن النبيّ ﷺ قال: "المرأةُ خُلِقَت من ضِلَعٍ أعوجَ، وإنك إن أقمتَها كسرتَها، وإن تركتَها [تستمتعْ بها] (2) وفيها عِوَج" (3). وهذا إسناد صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Know that woman was created from a rib, and if you try to straighten her completely, you will break her. So treat her with gentleness and accommodation, and you will be able to live with her (happily)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this three times.
This hadith is sahih al-isnad (its chain is authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. Its supporting witness is the hadith of Ibn Ajlan from his father from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Woman was created from a crooked rib. If you set about straightening her, you will break her, and if you leave her (as she is), you will be able to benefit from her despite her crookedness." This chain is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but they did not record it.

حدّثنا بكر بن محمد بن حَمْدان الصَّيرَفي بمَرُو، حدّثنا أبو قلابة الرَّقَاشيّ، حدّثنا عبد الصمد بن عبد الوارث، حدّثنا عمر بن إبراهيم، عن قَتَادة، عن سعيد بن المسيّب، عن عبد الله بن عمرو، عن النبيِّ ﷺ قال: "لا يَنظُرُ اللهُ إلى امرأةٍ لا تشكرُ لزوجِها ولا تَستَغني عنه" (4). وقد قيل: عن شعبة عن قتادة متَّصِلًا:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah does not look (with mercy) at a woman who is not grateful to her husband, while she cannot (even) do without him."
