الْمَرْءُ عَلَى دِينِ خَلِيلِهِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ مَنْ يُخَالِلُ
A man follows the religion of his close friend, so look at whom you befriend

حدّثنا أبو عمرو عثمان بن أحمد الدَّقّاق ببغداد، حدّثنا جعفر بن الزِّبرِقان، حدّثنا أبو عامر العَقَديّ، حدّثنا زهير بن محمد العَنَبريّ، حدَّثني موسى بن وَرْدان، أنه سمع أبا هريرة يقول: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "المرءُ على دينِ خَليلِه، فليَنظُرْ أحدُكم من يُخالُّ" (1). وقد رُوي عن أبي الحُباب سعيد بن يسار عن أبي هريرة:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man is upon the religion of his close friend, so let each one of you look at whom he befriends."
And this hadith is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) through Abu al-Hubab Sa'id bin Yasar:

حدَّثَناه أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدّثنا أحمد بن عيسى اللَّخْميّ، حدّثنا عمرو بن أبي سلمة، حدّثنا صَدَقة بن عبد الله، عن إبراهيم بن محمد الأنصاريّ، عن سعيد بن يسار، عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "المرءُ على دين خَليلِه، فليَنظُرْ أحدُكم من يُخالِلُ" (2). حديث أبي الحُبَاب صحيح إن شاء الله تعالى، ولم يُخرجاه.
