Allah loves to see the trace of His favour upon His servant

Amr bin Shu'ayb narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat, drink and give charity, provided there is no extravagance or arrogance in it, for Allah Almighty loves that the effect of His blessing should be seen (outwardly) upon His servant."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he sent some vegetables to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in which there was onion or leek (a vegetable resembling garlic). When he saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had not eaten any of it, he too refused to eat it. the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "What is preventing you from eating it?" He said: "I did not find the trace of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)'s eating in it." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I feel shy before the angels of Allah (who come to me with revelation), while it (eating onion and the like) is not forbidden."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not record it.
