Sayyiduna al-Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) states that some cloaks (qaba') came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed them among his Companions. My father said to me: "Come with us to him (peace and blessings be upon him), for cloaks have come to him (peace and blessings be upon him)." My father spoke at the door, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recognised his voice. He (peace and blessings be upon him) came out carrying a cloak and began saying: "I kept this hidden away for you, I kept this hidden away for you."
This hadith is recorded in Sahih Muslim. I have mentioned it here again so that it may be known that he used to come with his father to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and that he (peace and blessings be upon him) treated him kindly and fed him.

Sayyiduna al-Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) states that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us at Arafat. He praised and glorified Allah and then said: "To proceed: the idolaters and idol-worshippers used to depart from this place when the sun was on the peaks of the mountains like the turbans of men (yellowish in colour), whereas we will depart after the sun has set. And they used to depart from al-Mash'ar al-Haram when the sun had (risen and) spread out."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. By the evidence I have mentioned, it is established that Sayyiduna al-Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) heard directly from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), not as some of the common folk among our colleagues suppose, that he only saw him (peace and blessings be upon him) and did not hear anything from him.
