أخبرنا أبو جعفر البغدادي، حدثنا أبو عُلَاثة، حدثنا أبي، حدثنا ابن لَهِيعة، عن أبي الأسود، عن عُروة، في تَسمية من استُشهد يوم أَجْنادِينَ من قريش، ثم من بني عَدِيّ بن كعب: نُعيمُ بن عبد الله النَّحّام، قال: وذلك سنة ثلاث عشرة (1).
It is narrated from Urwah, concerning the names of those Companions from Banu Adi bin Ka'b of the tribe of Quraysh who were martyred on the day of the Battle of Ajnadayn: among them is Nu'aym bin Abdullah al-Nahham (may Allah be pleased with him); this was in the year 13 AH.
فحدَّثَنا أبو عبد الله الأصبَهاني، بإسناده عن محمد بن عُمر: أنَّ نُعيم بن النَّحام قُتِل يوم اليرموك شهيدًا في رجب سنة خمسَ عشرةَ (2).
It is narrated from Muhammad bin Umar that Nu'aym bin al-Nahham (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred on the day of the Battle of Yarmuk in the month of Rajab, in the year 15 AH.
أخبرني محمد بن علي الصَّنْعاني بمكة، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم، أخبرنا عبد الرزاق، أخبرنا ابن جُريج، عن نافع، عن عبد الله بن عمر، عن نُعيم النَّحّام قال: أذَّن مُؤذِّنُ النبيِّ ﷺ ليلةً فيها بَردٌ، وأنا تحت لِحَافي، فتمنَّيتُ أن يُلقيَ اللهُ تعالى على لسانِه: ولا حَرَجَ، فلما فَرَغَ قال: ولا حرجَ (3) صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. ذكر مناقب الطُّفيل بن عَمرو الدَّوْسي ﵁ -

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from Nu'aym al-Nahham (may Allah be pleased with him): On a very cold night the muezzin of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the call to prayer while I was huddled under my quilt. I wished in my heart that Allah Almighty would put these words on the muezzin's tongue: "And there is no harm (in not coming)" (that is, people may pray in their homes). When the muezzin finished the call to prayer, he said (those very words): "And there is no constraint / harm (in not coming)."
