Virtues of al-Hasan and al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them): the words with which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sought protection for al-Hasan and al-Husayn

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hasan and Husayn are the leaders of the youth of the people of Paradise, and their father is better than them both."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to place Sayyiduna Hasan and Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) under Allah's protection (with these words): 'U'idhukuma bi-kalimatillahit-tammati min kulli shaytanin wa hammah, wa kulli 'aynin lammah' (I place you both under the protection of Allah's perfect words from every devil and every venomous creature, and from every harmful evil eye). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: "Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) too used to place his sons Isma'il and Ishaq (peace be upon them both) under protection in this same way."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.
