The death of Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) and the differences over its date

Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Sulayman al-Hashimi narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandfather, that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) was born in the 41st year from the birth of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is narrated from Muhammad bin Umar al-Waqidi that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), passed away on the 3rd of Ramadan, when she was 29 years old or thereabouts. There is disagreement about the time of her death: it is reported from Abu Ja'far Muhammad bin Ali that Fatimah passed away three months after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); whereas it is reported from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she passed away six months after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); and it is reported from Abdullah bin al-Harith that she passed away eight months after the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Muhammad bin Umar said: Al-Zuhri narrated to us, through Urwah, from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) passed away six months after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Muhammad bin Umar said: In our view, this is what is established and reliable.
