وحدثني أبو بكر بن بالَوَيهِ، حدثنا محمد بن شاذانَ، حدثنا علي بن عبد الله، حدثنا أبو داود، حدثنا شُعبة، عن أبي بِشْر، عن مجاهد، عن ابن عمر: ﴿فَقَاتِلُوا أَئِمَّةَ الْكُفْرِ﴾ [التوبة: 12]، قال: أبو جهل بن هشام وأُمَيَّة بن خلف وعُتْبة بن رَبيعة وأبو سفيان بن حَرْب وسُهيل بن عمرو، وهم الذين نَكَثُوا عهدَ الله وهَمُّوا بإخراج الرسول من مكة (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the saying of Allah Almighty: "Then fight the leaders of disbelief" [Surah al-Tawbah: 12], that he said: "(It refers to) Abu Jahl bin Hisham, Umayyah bin Khalaf, Utbah bin Rabi'ah, Abu Sufyan bin Harb and Suhayl bin Amr. They are the ones who broke the covenant of Allah and intended to expel the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) from Makkah."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not record it.

حدثنا دَعلَج بن أحمد السِّجْزي، حدثنا أحمد بن بشر بن سعد المَرثَدي، حدثنا خالد بن خِدَاش، حدثنا عبد الله بن وهب، أخبرني عمرو بن الحارث، عن دَرَّاج، عن أبي الهيثم، عن أبي سعيد الخُدْري قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "إذا رأيتم الرجلَ يَلزَمُ المسجدَ، فلا تَحرَّجُوا أن تَشهَدوا أنه مؤمنٌ، فإنَّ الله يقول: ﴿إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ﴾ [التوبة: 18] " (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you see a man who is devoted to the mosque, then do not hesitate to bear witness that he is a believer, for Allah Almighty says: 'The mosques of Allah are only maintained by those who believe in Allah' [Surah al-Tawbah: 18]."
