It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is nothing more honoured in the sight of Allah Almighty than supplication."
This hadith is sahih al-isnad (its chain is authentic), but the two Shaykhs did not record it. Imam Muslim did not narrate from Imran al-Qattan in his book, even though he is truthful in his narration, and Imam Bukhari used him as evidence in his Sahih. By the will of Allah, I will also carry on in the Book of Supplications with the narrations that the two Shaykhs left out, and in this matter my approach is that of Imam Abdur-Rahman bin Mahdi:
I heard Abu Zakariyya Yahya bin Muhammad al-Anbari say: I heard Abu al-Hasan Muhammad bin Ishaq say that he used to relate from his father that Imam Abdur-Rahman bin Mahdi said: "When we narrate from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) concerning the lawful and the unlawful and legal rulings, we are strict regarding the chains of narration and scrutinise the narrators severely; but when we narrate concerning the virtues of deeds, reward and punishment, permissible matters and supplications, we are lenient regarding the chains of narration."
