Sayyiduna Sahl bin al-Hanzaliyyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out for Hunayn, he said: "Is there not a man who will guard us tonight?" Anas bin Abi Marthad al-Ghanawi said: "I will, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Go." The next morning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and said: "Have you sensed any sign of your horseman?" They said: "No." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began praying while glancing towards the mountain pass (to check on the guard). When he finished with the salam, he said: "Your horseman has come." When he arrived, he said: "Perhaps you dismounted?" He said: "No, except to pray or to relieve myself." Then he said: "I looked over the two passes, and there were Hawazin with their women in litters, their sheep and their camels, heading towards Hunayn." the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That will be spoils for the Muslims tomorrow, if Allah wills."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah al-A'raf in both rak'ahs of the Maghrib prayer.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs, provided there is no irsal (a missing link) in it, but they did not record it with this wording; rather, they only agreed on (the report of) lengthy recitation.
