Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 99

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) making this supplication: 'Allahumma a'udhu bika min al-kufri wal-faqri wa 'adhabil-qabr' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief, poverty (destitution) and the punishment of the grave).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two of them did not record it, although Imam Muslim used Uthman al-Shahham as evidence.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Manuscripts ('A) and (B) have the name as "Abu Muhammad bin Ja'far", and Ibn Hajar's "Ithaf al-Maharah" has "Abu Muhammad bin Abi Ja'far", which is wrong. The correct name is "Abu Muhammad Ja'far bin Ahmad bin Ibrahim"; here he is attributed to his grandfather.
Note / Clarification: His biography is in "Tarikh Baghdad" and "Ghayat al-Nihayah". Ibn al-Jazari described him as "al-Khassaf" (one who stitches sandals), which is the same trade as "al-Hadhdha'" (sandal-maker).
