Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that for a whole month, continuously, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed qunut in the Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha and Fajr prayers, at the end of every prayer when he said 'Sami'a Allahu liman hamidah' (Allah hears the one who praises Him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) would supplicate against the clans of Banu Sulaym: Ri'l, Dhakwan and Usayyah, and those behind him would say Amin. He (peace and blessings be upon him) had sent callers to them (inviting them to Islam), and they had killed them. Ikrimah says: This was the beginning of the qunut.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs did not record it with these words.
