The son of Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from his father that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bowed, he would keep a space between his fingers (keep them spread apart).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (2) It is "hasan li-ghayrihi", but the chain is weak because of a break (inqita'); Hushaym's hearing from 'Asim bin Kulayb is not established (Ahmad's "al-'Ilal" 1459).
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (1920) narrated it through the route of al-Harith bin 'Abdullah, with this addition: "When he prostrated, he would keep his fingers together". This addition will come later at number (922).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Keeping the fingers spread in ruku' is supported by the hadith of Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi (Abu Dawud 731), whose chain is hasan.
