Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8945

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him); he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The lightest punishment among the people of Hell will be for the one who will be made to wear two shoes and two straps of fire; from their heat his brain will boil as a cooking pot boils. And he will think that no one in Hell is receiving a more severe punishment than he, whereas he will be receiving the lightest punishment."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: These (words) are not in our manuscripts; we have supplied them from "Talkhis al-Dhahabi" and "Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah" (13/157). In manuscript (K) the wording is: "إن أهون الناس عذابًا".

Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Usamah's name is "Hammad bin Usamah", al-A'mash's name is "Sulayman bin Mihran", and Abu Ishaq's name is "'Amr bin Abd Allah al-Sabi'i".
Reference / Source: Muslim (213/364) recorded it from Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah (author of the Musannaf) with this same chain.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): So al-Hakim's including it (in al-Mustadrak) is an oversight on his part, and al-Bukhari's recording of it will also come in the next one.
Note / Clarification: "المرجل" is a copper cauldron. It is also used for any vessel in which water is boiled, of whatever kind.
