Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8904

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The last to be gathered will be two shepherds of the tribe of Muzaynah intending to go to Madinah. They will call out to their sheep, but they will find (instead of sheep) wild beasts there, until, when they reach Thaniyyat al-Wada' (the mountain pass), they will fall down on their faces."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is sahih and its chain is strong, on account of "'Ubayd bin Sharik" ('Ubayd bin 'Abd al-Wahid bin Sharik), since he is "saduq" (truthful) and acceptable (la ba'sa bihi).
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Muslim (1389/ 499) via Shu'ayb bin al-Layth bin Sa'd, from his father (al-Layth), with this chain. It was also narrated by Ahmad (12 / 7193) via Ma'mar and by al-Bukhari (1874) via Shu'ayb bin Abi Hamzah, and both of them narrate it likewise from Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Hence al-Hakim's counting it as a mustadrak (an addition) on the two Shaykhs (al-Bukhari and Muslim) is an oversight on his part (since it is in their books).

Technical note / Defect ('illah): The manuscripts have the word "bab" here, whereas what we have recorded (in the text) is taken from al-Dhahabi's "al-Talkhis".

Note / Clarification: It is thus in the manuscripts (with the verb in the dual), and this is the dialect of some Arabs; however, the more eloquent form is "fa-ya'khudhu al-malakan", i.e. with the verb in the singular (rather than the dual).
