Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8903

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she recited this saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "And you have certainly come to Us alone, just as We created you the first time" [Surah al-An'am: 94], and said: O Messenger of Allah! Alas, will men and women all be gathered together and look at one another's private parts?! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On that day every person will have such a concern as will make him heedless (of others). Men will not look at women, nor women at men; each will be occupied with his own worry."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Grading: This hadith is sahih (in terms of its text), but this chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In this chain is a narrator named "'Uthman bin 'Abd al-Rahman al-Qurazi", for whom we have found no biography under this name, unless he is "'Uthman bin 'Abd al-Rahman al-Zuhri al-Waqqasi", since he is the son of the sister of Muhammad bin Ka'b al-Qurazi and belongs to the generation of Sa'id bin Abi Hilal. Perhaps Sa'id slipped and (by ascription to his maternal uncle) called him al-Qurazi. Imam Ahmad indicated that Sa'id would confuse (takhlit) some hadiths. If he really is al-Waqqasi, then he is "matruk" (abandoned). In any case, whether it is this one or that one, al-Dhahabi in "al-Talkhis" declared it defective on account of a "break" (inqita') in the chain, perhaps because 'Uthman (whoever he is) is not established to have heard from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her).
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Tabari in his "Tafsir" (7/ 278) and by Ibn Abi Hatim (4/ 1349) via Yunus bin 'Abd al-A'la, from Ibn Wahb, with this chain.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In al-Tabari's chain, between Ibn Wahb and 'Amr bin al-Harith, the words "qala Ibn Zayd" (Ibn Zayd said) appear; this is an interpolated (muqhamah) addition, as Ustadh Mahmud Shakir (may Allah have mercy on him) made clear in his notes to his edition of "Tafsir al-Tabari" (11/ 545).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: This report is authentically established from 'A'ishah by a route other than this one, so see what has already appeared under number (8898).
