حدثني أبو بكر بن بالويه، حدثنا محمد بن أحمد بن النَّضر، حدثنا معاوية بن عمرو، حدثنا زائدة، حدثنا أبو إسحاق الشَّيباني، أخبرنا يُسَير بن عمرو: أنه قال لأبي مسعود: إنه كان لي صاحبانِ كان مَفزَعي إليهما: حَذَيفةُ وأبو موسى، وإني أَنشُدُك الله إن كنتَ سمعتَ من رسول الله ﷺ شيئًا في الفتن إلَّا حدَّثتَني، وإلَّا اجتهدتَ لي رأيَك (2)، قال: فحَمِدَ الله أبو مسعود وأثنى عليه، ثم قال: عليك بعُظْم أُمّةِ محمدٍ ﷺ، قال: إنَّ الله لم يجمع أمَّةَ محمدٍ ﷺ على ضلالةٍ أبدًا، واصبِرْ حتى يستريحَ بَرٌّ، أو يُستراحَ من فاجر (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه. وقد كتبناه بإسنادٍ عجيبٍ عالٍ:

It is narrated from Yusayr bin Amr that he said to Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud (al-Ansari) (may Allah be pleased with him): I had two companions to whom I used to turn (for knowledge and guidance): Hudhayfah and Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with them both). Now I adjure you by Allah: if you have heard anything from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about the tribulations, then do tell me; otherwise guide me with your own opinion. Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud praised and extolled Allah and then said: "Stay with the great body (al-sawad al-a'zam) of the Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), for Allah Almighty will never unite the Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) upon misguidance. And be patient until a righteous person finds rest (through death) or (people) find rest from a wicked person."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(2) في النسخ الخطية: وإلّا اجتهدت إلى ربك، وهو تحريف، والتصويب من "تلخيص الذهبي" و"مسند إسحاق بن راهويه" و "المعرفة والتاريخ".
Note / Clarification: The manuscripts have the words "wa-illa ijtahadta ila rabbik", which is a corruption. It has been corrected from "Talkhis al-Dhahabi", "Musnad Ishaq bin Rahwayh" and "al-Ma'rifah wa al-Tarikh".
(1) إسناده صحيح. أبو إسحاق الشيباني: هو سليمان بن أبي سليمان، وأبو مسعود: هو عقبة بن عمرو الأنصاري ﵁.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Ishaq al-Shaybani is Sulayman bin Abi Sulayman, and Abu Mas'ud is 'Uqbah bin 'Amr al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him).
وأخرجه إسحاق بن راهويه في "مسنده" كما في "المطالب العالية" (1/ 4340)، ويعقوب بن سفيان في "المعرفة والتاريخ" 3/ 244 و 244 - 245، وابن أبي الدنيا في "الصبر والثواب" (10)، والطبراني في "الكبير" 17 / (666)، والخطيب البغدادي في "الفقيه والمتفقه" (447) من طرق عن أبي إسحاق الشيباني، بهذا الإسناد. وبعضهم يختصره.

Some of them abridge it.
وأخرجه ابن أبي شيبة 15/ 35، وابن أبي عاصم في "السنة" (85)، واللالكائي في "أصول الاعتقاد" (162)، والبيهقي في "شعب الإيمان" (7111) - ومن طريقه ابن عساكر في "تاريخ دمشق" 40/ 524 - 525 - من طريق المسيب بن رافع وابن راهويه في كما في "المطالب" (4340/ 2)، الطبراني 17/ (665) من طريق قيس بن يسير بن عمرو، ويعقوب في "المعرفة" 3/ 245، والطبراني 17/ (667) من طريق عريف الشيباني، ثلاثتهم عن يسير بن عمرو، به - وعريف هذا لا يعرف، وروايته بنحو رواية أبي إسحاق الشيباني، ورواية الآخرين مختصرة، وزاد البيهقي في روايته بين المسيب ويسير بن عمرو ذرًّا، وهو خطأ.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn Abi Shaybah [15/ 35], Ibn Abi 'Asim in "al-Sunnah" (85), al-Lalaka'i in "Usul al-I'tiqad" (162) and al-Bayhaqi in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (7111) [and via him Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (40/ 524 - 525)] via al-Musayyab bin Rafi'; by Ibn Rahwayh [as in "al-Matalib" (4340/ 2)] and al-Tabarani [17/ (665)] via Qays bin Yusayr bin 'Amr; and by Ya'qub in "al-Ma'rifah" [3/ 245] and al-Tabarani [17/ (667)] via 'Arif al-Shaybani; all three of them from Yusayr bin 'Amr.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This 'Arif is not known; his narration is similar to that of Abu Ishaq al-Shaybani, while the narrations of the others are abridged. Al-Bayhaqi in his narration added "Dharr" between al-Musayyab and Yusayr, which is an error.
وسلف نحوه برقم (8756) من طريق أبي الشعثاء عن أبي مسعود.
