It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Hold fast to obedience (to the rulers) and to the Jama'ah (the unity of the Muslims), for this is the rope of Allah which He has commanded. What you dislike within the Jama'ah is better than what you like in division (separation). Allah Almighty has not created anything without giving it an end. Indeed, this religion has been completed, and now it is heading towards decrease. The sign of that is that ties of kinship will be severed, wealth will be taken unjustly, blood will be shed, a relative will complain of his relative (for his unkindness) but will gain nothing from him, and a beggar will go around for the interval between two Fridays yet nothing will be placed in his hand. While people are in this state, a sound like the lowing of a cow will come (from the earth), and every person will think that it came from his own side. Then suddenly the earth will cast out the pieces of its liver (that is, its treasures of gold and silver), (but) after that, gold and silver will be of no benefit."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.
