Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8779

Abu Sabrah al-Hudhali narrates: I met Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he narrated to me a hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I understood it well and wrote it with my own hand: Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful). "This is what Abdullah bin Amr narrated from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Indeed, Allah Almighty does not love the one who speaks obscenely nor the one who utters indecent talk.' Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'By the One in whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! The Hour will not be established until obscenity, indecency, bad neighbourliness and the severing of family ties become widespread, and until the trustworthy is deemed treacherous and the treacherous is deemed trustworthy.' Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'The example of the believer is like that of the bee: when it settles, it eats what is pure; then when it alights (on a branch or flower), it neither spoils it nor breaks it. And the example of the believer is like a piece of red gold which is put into the fire and blown upon; it does not change, nor does it lose anything when it is weighed.'"
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.
