Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8771

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Soon the furthest military outposts and frontier posts of the Muslims will reach the place Salah." And Salah is the name of a place near Khaybar.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note: Yunus is Ibn Yazid al-Ayli, and Salim is Ibn 'Abdullah bin 'Umar.
Technical note (mawquf and marfu'): With al-Hakim this report is mawquf, whereas Hisham bin 'Ammar narrated it, as recorded by al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (6743), "al-Saghir" (644) and "Musnad al-Shamiyyin" (2140), from Sa'id bin Yahya al-Lakhmi, from Yunus bin Yazid, from al-Zuhri, from Qabisah bin Dhu'ayb and Abu Salamah bin 'Abd al-Rahman, from Abu Hurayrah as marfu'.
Narrator appraisal: Hisham is saduq (truthful), but his memory changed when he grew old, so he began to accept prompting (talqin).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Ahmad (15/9216) recorded something similar through 'Abdullah bin 'Umar al-'Umari, from Khubayb bin 'Abd al-Rahman, from Hafs bin 'Asim, from Abu Hurayrah, also as marfu'. 'Abdullah al-'Umari is weak, but for the marfu' version it is supported by the following hadith of Ibn 'Umar, which is sahih.
Lexical analysis: "Al-masalih" is the plural of "maslahah": they are the people who guard the frontiers against the enemy; they are called "maslahah" because they are bearers of weapons (silah).
