أخبرني (1) أبو بكر بن قُريش، أخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان، حدثنا صفوان بن صالح، حدثنا الوليد بن مسلم، حدثنا عُفير بن مَعْدان، عن سُليم بن عامر الكَلَاعي، عن أبي أُمامة، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "أُنزِلَت عليَّ النبوةُ في ثلاثةِ أمكنةٍ: بمكةَ، والمدينةِ، والشام" (2).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Prophethood was sent down upon me in three places: in Makkah, Madinah and al-Sham."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Textual verification: This hadith is missing from manuscript (B).
(2) إسناده واهٍ من أجل عفير بن معدان، فإنه واهٍ.
Grading: Its chain is extremely weak (wahin) because of 'Ufayr bin Ma'dan, for he is an extremely weak narrator.
وأخرجه الطبراني في "الكبير" (7717) من طريقين عن الوليد بن مسلم، بهذا الإسناد. بلفظ: "أُنزل القرآن في ثلاثة أمكنة ..... ".
Reference: Al-Tabarani recorded it in "al-Kabir" (7717) through two routes from al-Walid bin Muslim, with this chain, in these words: "The Qur'an was revealed in three places ..."
